KUCHING: Sarawakian MMA fighter Jace Law is set to make a long-awaited return to competitive action, representing Malaysia in a professional lightweight bout against Thailand’s Alexander Khan.
The fight will headline RAGE MMA Malaysia’s main event at The Cage, LaLaport in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 22.
Law, who gained recognition in ONE Championship’s ONE Warrior Series, saw his last match canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After facing personal and professional challenges, he is now ready for his comeback.
“I’m feeling good. My last fight was in ONE Championship’s ONE Warrior Series, but it got canceled due to COVID.
“I’ve been wanting to fight since then, but I had to overcome other commitments first. Now, I’m here to get back in there and prove to myself that I still have it,” Law shared with Sarawak Tribune in a recent phone interview.
Known for his versatile fighting style, Law is well-versed in boxing and wrestling, with additional experience in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).
This broad skill set makes him a dangerous and adaptable opponent in the octagon. As for his upcoming opponent, Law has nothing but respect for Khan.
“He’s a formidable fighter and presents a real challenge, but I’m ready to face him head-on,” Law said, acknowledging the tough road ahead.
Looking beyond the fight, he hopes to leave a lasting legacy in MMA, particularly for fighters from Sarawak.
“The legacy I want to leave in MMA is to show that Sarawakians can fight. Whether it’s boxing, Muay Thai, or MMA, we have the talent here; we just need the opportunity and platform to showcase it,” he said.
As Law prepares for his return, fans across Sarawak and Malaysia are eagerly awaiting his performance, which could mark the beginning of a new chapter for MMA in the region.
Fans in Kuching and beyond are hoping that this fight is just the beginning of a new chapter in Law’s career—and perhaps a turning point for the future of Sarawakian fighters in the sport.
