KUCHING: Sarawak’s first Green Building Index (GBI)-certified residential high-rise, d’Isabelle, has been officially launched, marking a major milestone in sustainable urban living.

Developed by RJ Group, its chief executive officer, Datuk Lily Lim, said that this certified Green Building is not merely an architectural achievement; rather, it epitomises their commitment to environmental responsibility, resource efficiency, and a healthier lifestyle for their residents.

“This project represents more than just a residential building. It sets a precedent for our future developments in Sarawak and beyond.

“By investing in green technology today, we are safeguarding our environment for generations to come. This initiative aligns seamlessly with our government’s vision for a sustainable Sarawak.

“As we move forward, let us ensure that this Green Building serves as a catalyst for change — a role model for how we can live harmoniously with our environment.

“Let us pledge to support and promote sustainability in all aspects of our lives and encourage our community to engage with these practices,” she said during her speech at the grand event launching d’Isabelle at the Sheraton Hotel Kuching yesterday (Jan 11).

During the same event, RJ Group creative director Ryonna Chuo pointed out that the hallmark of the 18-storey residence is its unique “Detached in the Sky” concept, which introduces privacy and tranquillity by offering standalone units within a high-rise setting.

She highlighted that, amongst other things, d’Isabelle will be energy-saving, due to the promotion of natural lighting, ventilation, and water-efficient sanitary fittings.

“Our journey in sustainability has allowed for new innovations in the living experience. In terms of numbers, we are looking to save up to 25 per cent overall on energy consumption.

“With our current water management strategies for d’Isabelle, including rainwater harvesting, we’re aiming to save up to 81 per cent of water for our landscapes and around 43 per cent savings on water consumption from the green-certified sanitary fittings that we will be using,” she said, adding that the green buildings will bring residents a resale value estimated to be around 18 per cent or higher.

Following this, she stressed that RJ Group anticipates a growing demand for green homes as the Sarawak government’s initiatives shift toward a greener future, aiming for the state to transition to a green economy and achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

“As a property developer, we are playing our part responsibly to address climate change through our practices and, more importantly, to set an example for the rest of our industry peers to follow.

“That is why d’Isabelle is more than just a building — it’s a statement of leadership and a call to action to embrace sustainable practices.

“d’Isabelle is a home for everyone and a step forward for the real estate development industry in Sarawak, setting a benchmark for sustainable, family-oriented urban living,” she said.

Located at Jalan Dogan, d’Isabelle’s layouts range from 2 Bedroom to 3 Bedroom + 1 Study options and are crafted to adapt to every stage of life.

With features like separate wet and dry kitchens — an uncommon luxury in high-rise living — and flexible spaces such as a study that can transform into a playroom, studio, or a guest room, these homes are built for evolving lifestyles, ensuring a living experience that grows with residents through life’s many seasons.
