SIBU: Sarawak’s mixed doubles pairing of Jeremy Juan Zhen Liang and Genevie Lim Tsin Yeen advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Melaka’s Lee Yen Wei and Sharini Shahidi in straight sets in the badminton competition of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma).

Jeremy-Genevie, ranked 3rd in the mixed doubles, trailed by 1 point during the interval against the Melaka pair, 11-10.

However, they managed to catch up to their opponents and won the first set with a score of 21-17.

In the second set, they did not give their opponents a chance to make a comeback, pulling ahead by 6 points during the interval with a score of 11-5.

They continued to lead, winning the second set with a score of 21-11, confirming their advancement to the quarter-finals.

The pair will face Selangor’s Lee Yu Shan and Mohammad Adam Shaz Mohd Shazlan tomorrow (Aug 23).
