KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 454 Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday (May 9), bringing the tally to 35,160.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 60.13 percent of the new cases were detected in Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Pakan, and Sarikei districts.
Sibu district accounted for 72 new cases; Bintulu (65), Miri (59), Pakan (41), Sarikei (36), Kuching (35), Meradong (30), Selangau (24), Kanowit (16), Serian (14), Pusa (11), Kapit (10), Betong (8), Lundu (7), Bau (5), Tebedu (4), Subis (4), Samarahan (3) Julau, (3), Lawas (2), Saratok (2), Daro (1), Sri Aman (1), and Tatau (1).
“Fifty-one out of the 454 cases are symptomatic individuals detected through Covid-19 screening, while a total of 390 individuals had been instructed to undergo quarantine at the designated centre.
“A total of 329 new cases were screened after having contact with positive cases, 52 were individuals linked to active clusters, 34 detected from the screening of symptomatic individuals, 30 from other screenings in health facilities, and nine import B cases involving an individual returning from other states,” SDMC said in a press statement.
It also reported that 497 patients had recovered and were discharged from hospitals statewide today.
Of these, 163 were from the Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Mukah; Sibu Hospital and its PKRC (115); Miri Hospital and its PKRC (52); Bintulu Hospital and its PKRC (41); Sarikei Hospital and its PKRC (35); Sarawak General Hospital and its PKRC (32); PKRC Serian (25); Kapit Hospital and its PKRC (22); PKRC Betong (nine); and Sri Aman Hospital (three).
These bring the number of recovered and discharged cases thus far to 28,385 or 80.73 percent of the total number of cases in Sarawak.
“There are 6,489 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the state.
“A total of 454 persons-under-investigation (PUIs) have been reported with none waiting for laboratory test results,” SDMC added.
