BARCELONA: Sarawak has reached another milestone in its quest to become a regional leader in digital transformation, smart technologies, and sustainable development with the launch of the Sarawak Pavilion at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025 yesterday (Mar 3).
The pavilion serves as a gateway for global investors, technology leaders, and businesses to explore the vast opportunities that Sarawak has to offer.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said through the pavilion, Sarawak is committed to building a thriving digital economy, expanding renewable energy initiatives, and fostering industry collaborations to drive economic growth.
“In line with our Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the state is accelerating its digital transformation, leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to create new business opportunities and improve the well-being of our communities.
“The Sarawak Pavilion at MWC Barcelona showcases our readiness to collaborate, innovate, and grow with global partners,” he said when officiating at the launch of the pavilion.

Uggah also encouraged businesses, investors, and tech leaders to connect with the state and explore its opportunities, thus becoming part of Sarawak’s journey towards a sustainable and technology-driven future.
Meanwhile, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said this year, the Sarawak delegation would expand engagements through business matching sessions, networking opportunities, and high-level discussions to strengthen partnerships with global tech leaders, investors, and industry experts.
“These initiatives would enable the state to leverage global expertise, explore innovative solutions, and cultivate impactful collaborations that drive sustainable digital and economic growth.
“Through these engagements, Sarawak aims to tap into global expertise, explore cutting-edge solutions, and build meaningful collaborations that would drive long-term digital and economic growth for the state,” he said.
Earlier, SMA in a statement said the Sarawak Pavilion was more than just an exhibition as it would serve as a collaboration hub for forging strategic partnerships, driving investment, and fostering innovation.
The participation of the Sarawak government aimed at attracting interest from industry leaders, investors, and technology experts eager to explore potential collaborations.
Taking place from March 3 to 6, MWC Barcelona 2025 is expected to host over 120,000 people from 205 countries and territories, including top executives, policymakers, and technology pioneers.
