KUCHING: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) has added another feather to its cap after winning the Asian Business Review’s Malaysia Technology Excellence Award in the Smart City – Transportation category for its Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project.
According to Sarawak Metro chief executive officer, Ts Mazli Mustaffa, this latest accolade is more than just recognition of the organisation’s work — it is also a great source of encouragement for the management and staff.
“Thank you to the organisers and the panel of judges for presenting us with this award. It will certainly provide us with greater motivation and inspiration to complete our mission at Sarawak Metro to transform and decarbonise public transport through hydrogen technology in Kuching and Sarawak,” he said in a statement.
Mazli acknowledged the collective effort behind this recognition and urged everyone involved to continue giving their best to ensure the successful completion of the KUTS Project, which is under the purview of the Ministry of Transport Sarawak.
“We believe the KUTS Project will demonstrate how effective collaborations, visionary planning, and technological advancements can shape a greener future. We also hope this project will serve as a model for other urban areas, particularly cities with public transport needs similar to Kuching,” he added.
