KUCHING: The Sarawak Merdeka Convoy continues its the zero kilometre journey to Telok Melano in conjunction with the 60th Sarawak Independence Day celebration.
Beginning from the Majma Mall compound, the participants of the convoy are now on their 130-km journey to Telok Melano.
The convoy was flagged off by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and other distinguished guests.
As soon as they arrive Telok Melano, the participants will be welcomed by Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan and Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, before the convoy begins its 112-km journey to Bau.
In Bau when the convey members arrive at 4.30 pm, Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep and Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh will welcome them.
Later they will proceed to Kuching.
The overall distance of the journey is 285km, involving 30 four-wheel drives, 30 cars and 60 motorcycles.
Present during the flag off was Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications (Utility) Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim.
On Tuesday, a similar flag-off was held at the La Promenade compound in Kota Samarahan.
