SIMANGGANG: The success of the Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in winning the Best Enforcement Award at the ministry level for two consecutive years is a very proud achievement.
Head of the Enforcement Section of the Sarawak KPDN, Muhd Fahmi Hasrar said this achievement should be celebrated because enforcement officers, especially in Sarawak, are very professional, committed and loyal in carrying out the functions of the ministry.
In addition, he said, the enforcement officers involved are able to address issues of price increases, curb price manipulation activities, combat the leakage of subsidised controlled goods and stabilise the supply of essential goods.
“I have great hopes that all levels of society can become literate and knowledgeable consumers and always obtain true and authentic information.
“All information can be found at the Sarawak KPDN Office which is certainly more integrity with a clearer, more accurate and effective way of presenting it to the community,” he said at the opening of the Consumer Advocacy Council with the Sri Aman Branch KPDN Media Partners 2024, near here today.
Meanwhile, Muhd Fahmi said that this event was organised by KPDN in appreciation of the contribution of the media based on the quality and positive impact of news reports, editorials, advertorials, issue summaries and pictures of KPDN programmes that have successfully touched the hearts of the community, especially in the Sri Aman Division.
“In the context of KPDN, the media acts as a link that brings the ministry closer to the local and rural communities through coverage and reviews published on trade issues and the cost of living that are relevant and consistent throughout the year.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all parties who have always fully supported the efforts to empower and empower consumers.
The community in society plays an important role in helping to achieve the ministry’s vision and mission to educate the public to be aware of consumerism.”
Meanwhile, the head of the Sri Aman KPDN, Qartinee Mohamad Esa, thanked the media for their strong and tireless support, especially for programmes and issues related to consumerism as well as the KPDN’s efforts in easing the burden of the cost of living for residents in both urban and rural areas.
“As consumers, we have absolute rights that need to be defended. Consumers need to play a role in obtaining authentic information, good value, quality, and others for a product or service so as not to become victims of fraud.
“With social media not fully regulated, it is important for every user to understand the eight consumer rights for their own benefit.”
