KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi have extended their greetings for the Tamil New Year (Puthandu) and Vaisakhi celebrations to the Indian and Sikh communities in Malaysia, especially those in Sarawak.
Wan Junaidi expressed his hope that this celebration, which is joyously marked with the greeting “Puthāndu Vāḻttukkaḷ”, would bring new rays of hope, happiness, and well-being to all communities.
“I hope that the celebrations of Puthandu and Vaisakhi will be a good starting point for a year filled with hope, progress, and success,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page today (Apr 14).
In addition, he urged all citizens to continue strengthening the spirit of unity and to renew their commitment to building a more inclusive and harmonious society.
He also stressed the importance of preserving racial harmony, which is the foundation of the country’s stability, prosperity, and progress, especially in Sarawak.
