KUCHING: The Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) is expected to complete its renovation works within 10 days, ahead of the 27th Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), scheduled for June 28 to 30.

Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah shared that contractors are working tirelessly to meet the deadline.

“With about 20 days remaining until the event, I have been informed that the venue will be ready within the next 10 days,” he told reporters after inspecting SCV today (June 7).

The upgraded facilities include a two-storey VIP space, an improved area for the concert technician crew, and new cubicles for performers behind the stage.

Abdul Karim also said the VIP area is now significantly larger. “Previously, the VIP area was quite small. Now, it’s much larger. This year, we know that many VVIPs are coming, and the preparations are going smoothly.”

He added: “This shows that the event has gained recognition not only internationally but also nationally. State leaders, even royalties, want to come here to witness it.
