KUCHING: Sarawak and Australia have further strengthened bilateral ties, focusing on collaboration in sectors such as tourism, sports management and technical skills education.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan highlighted this during a recent courtesy visit by senior Trade Commissioner for New South Wales Andrew Parker and president of the Sarawak Australia Business Chamber Rodger Chan.
The discussions covered a range of potential sectors for collaboration, including renewable energy (hydropower, solar and biomass), downstream oil and gas, green hydrogen, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism and manufacturing.
Additionally, emerging sectors such as semiconductors, aerospace, biotechnology and medical devices were identified as new areas for investment opportunities.
Awang Tengah also expressed his support for increased government-to-government, business-to-business interactions, and social and cultural exchanges to further strengthen the relationship between the two regions.
Present during the courtesy call were advisor to the Ministry for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Dato Sri Mohd. Naroden Majais and permanent secretary to MINTRED, Dzulkornain Masron.
