SIMUNJAN: A police canine unit (K9) was roped in today to assist in the search and rescue (SAR) operations for a 75-year-old man reported missing in Kampung Gawang here.
The missing man, identified as Layang Sula, had failed to return home from his farm on Tuesday.
Simunjan fire chief Mat Undek said today’s search operation involved the police, villagers and police canine unit.
The teams carried out the search around the man’s garden at a radius of about 6km.
Despite a thorough search with the help of the dog unit, the efforts remained futile.
As at press time, the man is yet to be found.
