LIMBANG: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched to locate an elderly man who went missing after leaving his home on Dec 10.

The victim, identified as 54-year-old Wislie Lahap, was last seen leaving his house at around 5.15 pm, wearing a white shirt and navy-blue shorts.

He was reportedly heading towards a nearby area when he disappeared. Fearing for his safety, the victim’s family reported his disappearance to the authorities.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Limbang station were dispatched to the scene, about 15km away, after receiving a distress call at 8.24 am.

The SAR team, involving the police and Civil Defence Force (APM), is focusing their efforts within a 1km radius of the area where Wislie was last seen.

At the time of writing, Wislie is yet to be accounted for.
