MIRI: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing teenager entered its third day on Wednesday (15 January), with four agencies and local villagers working tirelessly along the coastal area of Pantai Batu Satu, Kuala Baram.

Efforts were divided into three coastal search groups, supported by two boats scouring the waters.

Despite these extensive measures, no signs of the missing teen had been found as of 2 pm on Wednesday (Jan 15).

Drone technology was deployed on Tuesday in an attempt to locate the victim, but the search has yet to yield any results.

Agencies involved in the operation include the Marine Police Force (PPM), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), and the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).

The incident occurred last Monday evening when 15-year-old Mohamad Iqbal was reported missing and feared drowned.

The Operations Centre of the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call about the incident at 6.40 pm.

Mohamad Iqbal and three friends, aged between 15 and 16, were bathing at the beach since 5 pm when they were struck by a large wave and pulled into the sea. While his companions managed to escape, the victim did not resurface.

Authorities and local residents continue their efforts in the hope of recovering the missing boy.

The search is ongoing.

The SAR teams are being divided into three sections.
