KUCHING: The 9th Edition of the Samarahan Bike Challenge 2025 is set to take place on June 22 along Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa, Kota Samarahan, with a target of 300 participants expected to join the event.
The announcement was made by the Samarahan Bike Challenge 2025 Organising Committee during a courtesy visit to the Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, at his office on Friday.
The organising committee comprises representatives from the Samarahan District Office, the Samarahan Division Tourism Task Force (DTTG), the Sarawak Cycling Association (Technical Division) and several other key stakeholders.
Present during the visit were Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Rais Ahmat, Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA) President Irawan Sudarsono, Samarahan District Office Administrative Officer Grace Rudy Singa, Assistant Administrative Officer Zool Nasri Yusuf, and The Summer Shopping Mall event management representative Canny Jong.
The cycling event, which is open to the public, will feature seven main categories – Men’s Open (aged 21 and above), Sarawak Closed, Veteran (aged 40 and above), Ladies Open, Junior (aged 16 to 20), Youth Men (aged 15 and below) and Youth Women (aged 15 and below).
Aside from the main race, various side activities are also being planned to enliven the event and attract participation from the local community and tourists.
Abdul Karim expressed the ministry’s full support for the programme and hoped that it would be carried out smoothly while contributing to the development of cycling and tourism in the area.
