KUCHING: The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) will make the second payment of dividend for the fiscal year 2020, amounting to RM16.97 million to 12,994 participants in mid-July.
Salcra, in a statement today, said the first payment was credited in early January.
“The recipients are advised to check and ensure the bank account number is accurate and the same as that registered with Salcra for the payment.
“We hope that the payment can help to ease the burden of the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, it also said that the productivity performance of the oil palm was slightly affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the first half of this year.
It said the strict border control by the government has also impacted the recruitment of foreign workers who are needed either for new recruitment or replacing the workers whose work permits already expired.
This matter has affected the farm operations, especially the production of fresh fruit bunches as well as reduced manpower issue.
“To reduce the labour gap, Salcra is now working to hire local workers as harvesters as well as fill job vacancies on farms, apart from increasing the use of machinery.
“Salcra has also appointed local contractors, apart from planning and implementing several initiatives to increase productivity,” it said. – Bernama
