BETONG: The Sarawak National Youth Association (Saberkas) collaborated with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development to organise the JUMS Start Biznes! Programme Saberkas Young Entrepreneur Tour last Saturday (May 21).

Betong became the first location for the first series of tour and 149 people attended, consisting of youths from all over Betong.

The programme was officiated by Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, who is also Saberkas deputy president.

Programme coordinator Nizam Khalyd shared that the purpose was to inspire and motivate youths, preparing a platform for them to the world of entrepreneurship through inspirational stories from successful local young entrepreneurs.

“This JUMS Start Biznes! Saberkas Young Entrepreneurship Tour is an initiative by Saberkas Micro Economy and Development Committee in conjunction with Saberkas’ golden jubilee.”

He added that the efforts from the government such as funding was indeed welcomed and youths should use the chance to involve themselves in entrepreneurship.

He believed that more successful young entrepreneurs could be created, who are also competitive in the international level.

Among the agencies involved in the programme included Agrobank, Betong District Office, Centex Commerical and Betong Polytechnic.

Also present were Betong Resident Richard Micheal Abunawas, SEDC Entrepreneurship Development and Community director Nik Adam Abdillah Kipali, Saberkas deputy president Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Abdul Rauf, Saberkas Layar Division secretary and co-coordinator James Aigat, department heads, state excos and members of Saberkas.
