SIBU: Sabah State Court director Marutin Pagan was killed in a two-vehicle accident at Kanowit-Durin roundabout yesterday (Mar 30).
The fatal accident was confirmed by Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement.
He said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division received a police report at 1.59 pm regarding the crash involving a Toyota Fortuner and a Proton X70.
“Investigations found that the Fortuner, driven by a 28-year-old woman, was heading towards Sibu from Kanowit town before colliding with the X70 driven by a 42-year-old man.

“The impact caused the Fortuner to overturn and one of the passengers, 56-year-old Marutin, was ejected from the vehicle.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to severe head injuries,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Fortuner driver and three other passengers sustained minor injuries, and they were rushed to Kanowit Hospital for further treatment.
He added that the X70 driver escaped unharmed in the accident.
Zulkipli said an investigation paper was opened under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Before Marutin’s appointment as the director of the Sabah State Court, he had served as a Sessions Court Judge in Bintulu, Miri, Sibu, and Kuching.
