MARUDI: Local business owners in Bario and Long Lama received equipment to expand their ventures and drive rural economic development through the COMMUNITY@SCORE programme as part of Regional Corridor Development Authority’s (RECODA) corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
In collaboration with Sakura Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd, the handover events were held on April 9 in Bario, and April 11 in Long Lama.
Among the recipients were Anne Mariam Peter and Rosemary Sabin from Bario, and Nyipa Braim Hoshen and Lekeen Eng from Long Lama.
The equipment is to boost their business operations and bring wider economic benefits to their communities.
The Bario event was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department cum Mulu state assemblyman, Datuk Gerawat Gala.
In Long Lama, the ceremony was officiated by Penghulu Desmond Yap on behalf of Telang Usan state assemblyman, Datuk Dennis Ngau.
“These contributions may seem small, but they go a long way in boosting rural entrepreneurship and strengthening the local economy,” said Gerawat.
Highland Development Agency (HAD) Regional Director, Juan Ubit, officiated at both ceremonies on behalf of RECODA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni.
Also in attendance were Sakura Ferroalloys representatives, Chelsea Kennedy and Rose Bibi Mawan, along with local leaders and entrepreneurs.
