KUCHING: The people in Telang Usan constituency have been assured that the state government will continue to distribute food supply to them during the current movement control order (MCO 2.0) in Sarawak.

Telang Usan assemblyman, Dennis Ngau said the distribution of food aid in the area was a huge and monumental task given the transportation challenges in the remote constituency.

“We have to rely heavily on the spirit of volunteerism among our people to help families affected by the implementation of the MCO as part of the state’s ongoing effort to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I appeal to the sons and daughters of Telang Usan to step forward and help either in the packing of the food items or by offering their off-road vehicles to transport the food to their longhouse or to other villages in need,” Dennis said.

He also appealed to all parties in the constituency to help ensure a seamless supply and distribution of the food aid during the MCO 2.0.

“Our Telang Usan team will be led by myself, our MP YB Anyie Ngau and our district officers from Telang Usan and Beluru.

“I urge all village heads to quickly provide us a list of actual families staying in the village who are affected by the MCO 2.0, as well as the number of doors,” said Dennis.

He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government for helping the rural dwellers.
