SRI AMAN: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang called for more allocations to focus on rural development in Sarawak and Sabah.
“We hope at the Ministry level, the allocation for development can be increased so that we can ensure that rural development, especially rural and regional development, can be expedited.
“This is because we see some efforts, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, which are still lagging behind, especially in terms of physical development in the villages.
“Not only infrastructure but also in terms of socio-economic development and the ministry has outlined and focused this year’s budget more on Sabah and Sarawak,” she was quoted as saying in a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
She said this after officiating at the Business Premises Handover Ceremony at Agropolitan Seduku Baru, here, recently.
Rubiah added that the development in Agropolitan Seduku has covered various fields not only from a socio-economic point of view but also from a social point of view.
She explained that the ministry prioritised the provision of infrastructure for the purpose of emphasising economic improvement by creating programmes to increase income, economic programmes that are more commercial in nature and efforts to produce more rural entrepreneurs.
Rubiah added that five units of business premises have been completed at a cost of RM660,000 and the cooperation between the federal and state governments has brought the residents of Pulau Seduku to the new settlement of Agropolitan Seduku Baru with a development cost of RM68 million where the residents will get enjoy more facilities.
In the same programme, Rubiah also announced a RM90,000 Business Premises Repair Project and also RM100,000 for the upgrading of the Kampung Agropolitan Seduku Baru Multipurpose Hall under Felcra Batang Lupar Berhad.
Also present were Batang Lupar MP Shafizan Kepli, Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, Felcra Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Mat Roni Zakaria and Sri Aman Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman.
