KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) have issued a total of 9,661 non-compliance notices for various offenses last month.
These notices were issued during 51,619 vehicle inspections conducted under ‘Op Khas Motosikal’ operations across Sarawak.
“Of the total, 1,874 notices were issued against drivers or motorcyclists without valid driving or riding licences.
“Meanwhile, 1,208 notices were issued for offenses related to road tax, including driving without valid road tax or with expired road tax,” the department said.
Other offences included overloading, dangerous loads, failing to wear helmets or seat belts, and various technical violations.
The operations also resulted in the confiscation of 105 vehicles for various offenses.
RTD stressed that such operations would continue until the end of the year to monitor, detect, and take action against motorists violating the Road Transport Act 1987 and its associated regulations.
The department reminded all road users to adhere to traffic laws and prioritise road safety.
