KUCHING: Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, fulfilled her wish to see an orangutan during her visit to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre yesterday (Nov 27).
She arrived at 3.10 pm and was welcomed by Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar, wife of the Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, and Datin Melinda Claudia Bucking, wife of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts.
The visit began with a brief presentation by Asyraff Julaihi Khan, Regional Manager of the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Kuching Division, and Mohd Azizi Ahmad Zaini, Forest Warden at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.
As part of the programme, Asyraff presented a souvenir to Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
Her wish to observe an orangutan in its natural habitat was granted when Seduku, affectionately known as the “Grand Old Lady” of the centre, made a solo appearance in the afternoon.
The royal entourage spent approximately an hour at the wildlife centre before departing.
