ROBAN: The residents of Kampung Empelam here, who have long been waiting for a better road, can now afford to smile as upgrading work has begun on the road to their village.
Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said the Sarawak government has approved an allocation of RM250,000 for the project.
He said the road to the village was a major problem for the residents.
“We are aware of the difficulties faced by the villagers here who have to track along a mud road which gets worse during the rainy season.
“The road is in the process of being upgraded and we expect that in the next week it will be fully completed and accessible by the residents,” he said.
Mohd Chee said the upgrading of the road would also boost economic activities and increase the income of the local community.
He said the implementation of the project proved that the GPS government was committed to fulfill their responsibilities and promises to the people.
“The implementation of high impact projects including in Kabong area is a clear proof of the GPS government’s concern to ensure the people’s livelihood is always secure.
“We are fortunate enough that Sarawak has a Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) who always cares about the people’s problems,” he said.
He urged the people to continue to support Abang Johari and GPS to safeguard the rights of Sarawak within Malaysia.
