KAPIT: The construction project for the new road to the Asap Resettlement Scheme is expected to be completed by September 9, 2026.
According to Murum state assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, the RM50 million project will serve as a catalyst for ongoing development in Sungai Asap.
“The construction of this road is not only crucial to supporting continuous development in the area, but it will also help reduce congestion during major events such as the Apau Koyan Festival.
“This area also has the potential to become a new administrative centre for Sungai Asap, with various developments like an agricultural office and heritage centre to be established soon,” he said.
He said this during the ground-breaking ceremony of the project, recently.
Meanwhile, Chukpai also urged the public and community leaders in Sungai Asap to provide full cooperation to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
He added that the contractors and implementing agencies are also expected to ensure the project is completed according to the scheduled timeline.
