KUCHING: Harbour Music Café and KTV and Emperor Kingdom KTV and Lounge have donated RM7,000 to six charitable bodies.
The six beneficiaries are Social Welfare Council of Sarawak (SSWC) which received RM2,000, Salvation Army (RM1,000), Kuching and Samarahan Division Cerebral Palsy Association (Wisheland) (RM1,000), Sarawak Society for Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakat) (RM1,000), Sarawak Society for the Dead (RM1,000) and Senior Citizens Service Centre (RM1,000).
Presentation of funds to the charitable bodies is part of the companies’ corporate social responsibility (csr) to help less fortunate members of the society.
President of SSWC Major Francis Ng said he was grateful for the companies’ generous contributions.
“In conjunction with the spirit of Christmas, with these funds we are able to bring a lot of joy and cheer to the less fortunate,” he told a press conference at the SSWC office at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here yesterday.
He said the companies had been helping all these associations and other charitable association for more than five years.
“The companies have set a good example in giving back to the society and their kind acts are able to encourage more companies to do the same as well.”
Also present at the presentation ceremony yesterday was a representative from Harbour Music Café and KT Lu Jia Na.
Social Welfare Council of Sarawak (SSWC) currently has 39 charitable bodies registered under it throughout Sarawak.
