KUCHING: I Can See Clearly Now (ICSCN) Campaign is a nationwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme initiated since 2012 by Magnum Corporation and fully supported by Magnum employees nationwide. The objectives are to help bring awareness of the importance of Eye Care to young children by providing eye-check for all and prescriptive spectacles to the needy children.
Since 1969, Magnum has been actively involved in carrying out CSR activities for the Community. Magnum employees are inspired and committed to also join the Company to carry out community services. This has resulted in the Magnum employees dedicating their time and effort to organize the ICSCN program by identifying Schools, collaborating with Optical Partners, raise funds and help the young children in the Community.
Under the eye care awareness campaign, Magnum employees have successfully raised RM636,924 nationwide and contributed 8,182 spectacles to the deserving children from the 160 primary schools and 16 welfare homes across the country, where a total of 43,758 children have attended eye screening test.
This year, one of the 14 Magnum Teams, namely Magnum Loving Hand engaged with professional optician to conduct eye-screening to deserving students from SK Kidurong II, Bintulu, SJK Chung Hua (II) Bintulu, SK St Rita Sibu, SK Merbau Miri. In Sri Aman & Kuching Region, we have visited SJK Chung Hua Simanggang, SJK Batu 7 Matang Kuching and SJK Chung Hua Batu 4 ½ Kuching. We have purchased total 640 pairs of corrective spectacles to the deserving students.

“We know that a good education foundation is important for future learning and it is essential to ensure that something as fundamental as having a good / corrected eye sight is made aware and available to the child. If the child cannot see clearly in the classrooms, he/she will lose interest in his studies and this will impact his academic performance. More so if he/she is tall, he/she will be asked to sit at the back of the class! All these will then tantamount to wrongly labeling the child to be a slow learner”, explained Ms Beh Swan Swan, Head of Magnum Group CSR.
