KUCHING: A total of 16 mosques and 16 suraus in the Tabuan Zone and Jalan Bako Zone within the N.5 Demak Laut State Assembly constituency have received an annual funding contribution of RM521,000.

The funds were presented by Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, who is also Demak Laut assemblyman, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, yesterday.

Each mosque received RM18,000, while each surau received RM13,000. The donation cheques were handed over to the respective mosque and surau chairpersons during separate presentation ceremonies.

For recipients in the Tabuan Zone, the ceremony was held at Masjid Darul Hajat, Kampung Tabuan Hilir (also known as Selipar Putus). Meanwhile, recipients from the Jalan Bako Zone received their cheques at the Deputy Minister’s office in Petra Jaya.

This year, an additional RM3,000 was allocated to each mosque and surau to support their committees in organising various activities throughout Ramadan.

“I hope this annual funding will assist in the management of mosques and suraus, strengthening activities that benefit the local communities.
