KAPIT: The state government has allocated RM150,000 under the 2025 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to repair and rebuild the damaged embankment at Rumah Kiong, Sungai Anggau here, following a landslide on Jan 11.
Bukit Goram assemblyman Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat assured that the government is committed to sustainable and resilient infrastructure development in rural areas.
“The recovery project has been prioritised under RTP 2025 to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected community.
“Immediate measures, such as covering the affected area with plastic canvas, have also been implemented to prevent further erosion,” he said during his visit to the longhouse on Monday (Jan 20).
The landslide, caused by heavy rainfall, had posed risks to the residents of Rumah Kiong.
Jamit reiterated that the government’s swift response highlights its dedication to addressing rural infrastructure challenges holistically.
He added that the proactive approach aligns with the state’s broader goal of improving the standard of living and ensuring long-term sustainable development in rural areas.
