KUCHING: A local man was slapped with a hefty RM150,000 fine yesterday (Mar 13) after he was caught with 16,000 liters of diesel without a licence at an industrial storage facility in Batu Kitang.

In a statement, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak said it discovered the illegal diesel stockpile during a raid conducted with the General Operations Force (PGA) Batu Kawa.

The accused was charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and sentenced in the Sessions Court before Judge Musli AB Hamid.

He managed to pay the fine, avoiding a one-year prison term, while the confiscated diesel was forfeited to the government.

KPDN Sarawak urged the public to be vigilant and report any misuse of controlled or subsidised goods via WhatsApp (019-848 8000), email (e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my), call center (1-800-886-800), or the Ez ADU KPDN mobile app.
