BINTULU: Sebauh District will have a new church soon.

As reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Sarawak government had approved an allocation of RM10mil for the construction of the church through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

Bishop Richard Ng said the estimated cost of the building, including other facilities such as the priest’s residence, hall, office, meeting room and classroom, was RM11.09mil.

He explained that the allocation would be channelled directly to the church through Unifor in phases and the next allocation would be given depending on the progress of the project.

“The construction of this church is expected to be completed within two years from 2023 and is expected to be fully completed in 2025.

“Once completed, the church will be able to accommodate 1,000 people at any one time compared to the current church that we have here,” he said when receiving the cheque during a ceremony at the Sebauh District Office last Saturday (July 23).
