KUCHING: A total of RM10,000 was allocated by the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research, Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong to SMK Pending for the purpose of the school programmes and activities that can benefit the students.

According to Manyin, who is represented by Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research, Dr Annuar Rapaee, SMK Pending is more than 40 years old, a sign that new facilities are needed in order to provide a better environment for the students.

“I want to congratulate the school’s alumni, students, teachers and also the parent and teacher association (PIBG) for taking care of the school.

“It is important that the student do their studies in a conducive environment and enough facilities to ensure that our next generation will get a good quality education,” said Annuar at the ‘Ceriaton and Gotong-Royong Perdana’ SMK Pending, on August 18.

On another matter, commenting on 402 list of schools identified as hotspots for diciplinary and drug problem by the Ministry of Education as reported by the national English daily, Dr Annuar said that the state’s Education, Science and Technological Research will wait for the federal government’s action on the matter.

Out of the 402 schools nationwide, 10 schools from Sarawak were in the list which is located in Kuching, Bau, Padawan, Sri Aman, Miri, Baram, Lawan, Simunjan, Samarahan and Bintulu.
