KAPIT: Bukit Goram Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat officiated at a ‘Ngiling Bidai’ ceremony (Gawai closing) for the PDK Kapit (Kapit Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre) at the centre at Jalan Bleteh last Thursday afternoon.

At the function Jamit announced a grant of RM5,000 for the PDK and another RM5,000 to a fund to buy a van for the centre.

The ‘Ngiling Bidai’ ceremony was also held to coincide with the Centre’s Open Day.

Assistant Director of the Kapit Welfare Department Office, Peter Gabong and chairperson of PDK Kapit, Moonly Tiang also spoke at the function.

Peter said that the state Welfare Department only allocated fund for rental payments and allowances for the full time workers.

“For any extra activity or staff going on travelling, then the management committee of PDK will have to look for the money themselves,” he pointed out.

Moonly Tiang disclosed that at present there are 42 trainees registered at the centre which is open daily from Monday to Thursday while Friday is set for visits by the families or Family Day.
