2020 State Budget
The State government announced that RM100 million will be provided for the village development and security committees (Jawatankuasa Keselamatan dan Kemajuan Kampung ― JKKK) beginning next year.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said fund would be for the JKKKs to run their activities as well as for payment of meeting and monthly allowances to the committee chairmen and secretaries. Before this, the secretaries did not receive any allowance.
“We recognise the important role and significant contributions of the JKKKs as a grassroots administrative machinery to ensure the safety and prosperity of our villages. This has, to a large extent, contributed to the harmony and unity of our multi-racial people,” he said when delivering his 2020 State Budget speech at the State legislature yesterday.
Moreover, with the accelerated pace of development in the State, the roles of JKKKs are becoming more challenging and critical.
“JKKKs need to be strengthened in order for them to be more well-informed, knowledgeable and proactive,” he said.
