MIRI: Subis District has received a total of RM1.26 million in grants under the Sejahtera Komuniti Madani (SejaTi Madani) programme, benefiting 15 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) across 17 approved programmes.
The grants were officially handed over by Deputy Health Minister and Sibuti MP Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, during a ceremony at the Bekenu Community Hall today (Dec 30).
11 JKKKs received their grants during the programme, including JKKK Rumah Segiong, Niah; JKKK Kampung Kejapil; JKKK Kampung Padang Kelulit; JKKK Keluru Tengah; JKKK Rumah Edward Ekau, Sibuti; JKKK Rumah Nyala Niah; JKKK Kampung Satap; JKKK Kampung Subak Jaya; JKKK Rumah Patrick Libau, Niah; JKKK Kampung Dagang, Bekenu; and JKKK Kampung Sepurau.
Representing Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Lukanisman expressed optimism that the initiative would greatly benefit the participating JKKKs and their respective communities.
“This programme is part of the Prime Minister’s initiative under the 2023 Budget, starting in 2024. Each JKKK can apply for grants ranging from RM50,000 to RM100,000 to support projects that promote community and economic development,” Lukanisman said.
The SejaTi Madani programme enables JKKKs to implement projects across various sectors, including agriculture and food production, tourism and hospitality, green and recycling activities, sewing and handicrafts as well as herbs and health.
This initiative aims to generate revenue while fostering sustainable growth within local communities.
For Sarawak alone, RM100 million has been allocated for 2024, supporting 1,124 programmes. Out of these, 1,024 JKKKs have successfully applied for funding.
In Subis District, the RM1.26 million allocation supports diverse projects that aim to strengthen the socio-economic fabric of the region.
To ensure efficient distribution of funds, approved JKKKs are required to register with the eVendor system.
Looking ahead, Lukanisman expressed hope that more applications from Subis District JKKKs will be approved under the SejaTi Madani programme in 2025.
