River cleaning, dredging project launched

SARIKEI: The river cleaning and dredging project with a total cost of RM200,000 at Sungai Mador Melayu, Bintangor was launched on Thursday.

The project involving a river more than 8 kilometres long will be implemented by Up Taha Enterprise and Sarikei Divisional Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) as its implementing agency.
Handover ceremony of the project to the contractor was performed by DID Sarikei representative Mary Rittie Adward.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Federal Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii’s representative, Gung Chiu Kiong.

For the record, Huang applied for the project following complaints from the public affected by the flooding problem in the area.
The residents expressed their gratitude to the Sarawak government for approving the project to make sure they can carry out their daily activities smoothly.
