KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle collision at Jalan Meranek Langsat here this morning (Jan 3).
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said the incident occurred around 8.40 am when a 40-year-old man driving an MPV was travelling from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) towards Kampung Meranek Langsat.
“Upon reaching Jalan Meranek Langsat, while attempting to turn right, a motorcycle ridden by the 21-year-old victim collided with the rear of the MPV,” he said in a statement.
“As a result of the collision, she fell into the opposite lane and was subsequently hit by a lorry driven by a 53-year-old man.”
The motorcyclist succumbed to fatal head injuries at the scene.
“The case is still under investigation and is being handled under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
