Rider flung into opposite lane, killed in collision with car

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 21-year-old labourer died from his injuries after being involved in a collision along KM8, Jalan Kota Samarahan-Asajaya late last night (Apr 6).

Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said that the accident happened around 11pm and involved a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle and a Toyota Vios.

The victim was riding his motorcycle from Asajaya towards Kampung Baru before the collision.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who was riding from Asajaya towards Kampung Baru, lost control of his motorcycle, which skidded before he was flung onto the opposite lane.

“An oncoming Toyota Vios, driven by a 20-year-old man, then crashed into the victim,” he said in a statement.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Yusri Jumadi from Kampung Baru, was rushed to the Sarawak Heart Centre but was pronounced dead at 12.05am.

Damataries said his body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further action.

Meanwhile, the Vios driver escaped unharmed in the accident.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
