SIBU: Rimbunan Hijau (RH) Group has donated medical equipment worth RM102,000 to Sibu Hospital.

The donation was given as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative and Golden Jubilee celebrations.

RH Group managing director Datuk Tiong Thai King, RH Group executive director Tiong Choon, and RH Group corporate relations general manager Datuk Thomas Tieng Mee Tung handed over the donation in a handover ceremony here yesterday.

Sibu Hospital Director, Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu, said the contribution was a meaningful one as it would help address critical medical needs in several hospital wards.

“This year, the donor (RH Group) asked us to list the equipment we required.

“After reviewing our system, we selected several essential items,” he said when met by reporters after the handover ceremony.

He added that some of the hospital’s existing equipment was either damaged, outdated or undergoing repairs.

“The newly donated equipment will help fill these gaps and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.

“The equipment will be distributed across various departments, including the Medical, Surgical, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) Departments, for inpatient use.

“The items received include infusion pumps, syringe pumps and defibrillator monitors – essential tools for patient care.

“While we receive funding from the Ministry of Health, additional contributions like this help us meet the hospital’s growing needs,” he said.

Dr Nanthakumar also encouraged more corporate contributions through CSR initiatives.

“Many companies are becoming more active in CSR programmes at the hospital, which greatly helps us meet our needs,” he said.

“I hope that efforts by the RH Group will continue in the coming years to improve healthcare services at Sibu Hospital, benefiting both patients and medical staff,” he added.
