DALEH LONG PELUTAN, MIRI: A community hall costing RM430,000 has been completed in Daleh Long Pelutan, Miri under the Telang Usan constituency rural transformation programme (RTP) to benefit the 150-door longhouse.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau thanked the village chief, Tingang Pahang and the community of Daleh Long Pelutan for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.

“Imagine if some among your community created issues and demands, it will definitely cause problems for the completion of the facility. With your co-operation this beautiful community hall is now the centre for activities at the village be it government function, church or community events and now I was told the youth of your longhouse are busy making badminton courts here too,” he said when declaring open the hall on Tuesday.

The community hall was named after penghulu Uyong Luhat , a pioneer leader of the longhouse who leads the village in the 1800’s.

Dennis noted that more than 200 people-centric projects have been implemented since 2015 ranging from community halls, village roads, drains, village development and security committee (JKKK) and Women Bureau activity centres, games courts, upgrading of worship houses, jetties and plank walks, among others built at all 88 villages in the Telang Usan constituency.

“In the 2022 State Budget, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has emphasised on rural development with a total sum of RM4.803 billion or 64 percent of the total development expenditure will be allocated to implement various rural-based infrastructure projects and people –centric programmess which will include funds for RTP projects,” he explained.

Thus, he urged his constituents to continue to give their undivided support to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) under the leadership of Abang Johari.

“We must keep Telang Usan under the radar of state leadership as we need more development for our rural constituency.

“My experience over 10 years as your wakil rakyat makes me to understand without having your people’s representative in the state government will only bring suffering to the constituents,” Dennis said.

At the event, Dennis announced allocations of RM20,000 to  Daleh Long Pelutan JKKK and RM10,000 each to JKKK of Uma Bawang Kanan and Uma  Bawang Kiri and RM10,000 to Persatuan Belia Daleh Long Pelutan for them to build a sepak takraw court next to the community hall.
