MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi has pledged to continue giving his best in serving the people if given the opportunity to defend his seat.
According to him, constructive ideas and opinions from the people had helped him in carrying out his duty.
He admitted that in the early part of his role as an elected representative, found it quite challenging.
“I take heed of constructive ideas and opinions and now I feel comfortable and confident in carrying out my duties,” he said.
He said this at a cheque presentation ceremony at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Ek Hua in Penakub here yesterday (Oct 29).
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian handed over the cheque amounting to RM300,000 to the school for its new building worth RM2 million.
According to Abdul Yakub, various projects had been implemented in Balingian since he was elected as the people’s representative in 2016.
He thus called on the people to support him and the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in the coming 12th state election.
On the new building project, he commended the school management board for taking a bold move in implementing the project, even with limited funds.
Abdul Yakub also thanked donors who had previously contributed to the school’s building funds for the project.
