SIBU: Bawang Assan assemblyman, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh has initiated a large-scale relief operation to assist families impacted by recent flooding in several areas across Sarawak.

Today and tomorrow, essential food supplies will be distributed to 670 affected families in the flood-hit regions of Sg. Sebedil, Sg. Rassau, Bungan Besar, Bungan Kecil, Sg. Pinang, and Sg. Banyok.

“Each family will receive a relief package containing one 10kg bag of rice, one box of instant noodles (30 packages), biscuits, sugar, canned food, and coffee. The aid aims to provide immediate support to those displaced or struggling due to the floods,” he said.

The Sarawak River Board has mobilised two large vessels to facilitate the transportation of the foodstuffs to the affected areas. This collaborative effort underscores the urgency of the situation and the commitment to ensuring timely delivery of aid to those in need.
