SIBU: It will cost almost 80 per cent less to rent a stall at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 2 Ramadan bazaar this year with the rent per stall capped at RM125.
This follows feedback from operators who had raised concerns about the rent per stall charged at RM600 last year which was deemed as too high.
Hence, Nangka assemblyman Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee through a dialogue session with the traders agreed to allocate RM60,000 through his service centre in order to help and ease the burden of the operators.
“Also agreed during the dialogue session is no RM200 deposit for cleanliness will be imposed, grill food stalls will be increased to 20 from 10 stalls, and the bazaar will be operating until Hari Raya night,” Dr Annuar said in his Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 25).
Meanwhile, when contacted Dr Annuar who is also the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development advised the food operators to keep their stalls clean and tidy, and prepare food hygienically.
“Keep (your stall) clean, don’t sell stale food, and make sure the ingredients (for cooking) used are fresh,” he said.
Dr Annuar also advised the public to make a complaint through the right channel if they encounter any such issues when buying food from the bazaar.
The bazaar with 180 stalls will be managed by Taman Selera Harmoni Sibu Muslim Traders Association and set for opening on the first day of this year’s fasting month which is likely to fall on March 23.
The bazaar which not only sells food and drink but also various activities to attract the public is set to open daily from 2 pm to 10.30 pm throughout Ramadan month.
