KUALA LUMPUR: The Regional Corridor Development Agency’s (Recoda) participation in the Selangor Investment Industrial Park Expo 2024 underscores its commitment to showcasing the vast potential of the Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP).

Its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni said this industrial hub is pivotal to Sarawak’s economic landscape, offering immense opportunities for investors and manufacturers.

“We are here to forge new partnerships and demonstrate the strategic advantages that Samalaju Industrial Park presents to the global investment community,

“Recoda previously participated in the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) under a different category.

“This year, Recoda’s participation targets the right investors to choose Samalaju Industrial Park as their preferred investment destination,” he said.

Ismawi highlighted that Recoda is focusing on several mega projects besides SIP, including the Northern Coastal Highway, New Lawas Deep Water Port, Lawas New Airport, IHAS Masterplan, and CPPC Projects in Spaoh, Betong, and Sungai Baji, Sarikei.

He also promoted the Border Development Project, aiming to improve road access to Long Banga, Bario, and Ba’kelalan, and mentioned that a new CIQ will facilitate cross-border trade with Indonesia through Nusantara.

“Samalaju Industrial Park, located in Bintulu, stands as a premier industrial hub within the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) region, designed to attract heavy and energy-intensive industries.

“It leverages renewable energy from the Bakun Dam, contributing to its appeal for international investment.

“Since its inception in 2008, SIP has secured significant private investments, totaling RM56.67 billion, and is home to 14 major investors, including Wenan Steel (M) Sdn Bhd, OCIKumho Sdn Bhd, and LONGi Malaysia, all of which are currently developing their sites,” he added.

Recoda’s exhibition, he said, featured photos showcasing the potential socio-economic products of its three Regional Development Agencies: Stingless Bee Honey (Madu Kelulut) in URDA, coffee in HDA, and Songket and Fish Cage Farming (Penternakan Ikan dalam Sangkar) in NRDA.

It also featued its socio-economic initiatives, such as the Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) 2022-2026, Community @Score, and Employ@Score, all aimed at improving the livelihoods of poor communities in Score. Government initiatives like Initiative Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR) and Basmi Miskin Tegar (BMT) were also showcased.
