BINTULU: The Ziarah Kasih programme under the Kembara Kasih initiative organised by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development (KPWKM) continued with efforts to reach out to the elderly in Kampung Assyakirin Phase 1.

KPWKM secretary-general Datuk Dr Maziah Che Yusoff took time to visit two elderly individuals in need of assistance and care here today (Sept 19).

She was accompanied by Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang and Bintulu District Social Welfare officer Wan Muhammad Hasif Wan Jamari.

Mani Lidong, an 81-year-old who lives with her two children, one of whom is a person with disabilities (OKU), received attention from the delegation.

Additionally, Zanaida Zaini, another elderly individual who is also disabled, lives with her two siblings without a steady source of income and requires intensive care due to her health condition, which only allows her to eat using a syringe.

During the programme, the KPWKM delegation not only delivered essential daily supplies but also spent time engaging with the families they visited.

According to Maziah, the Ziarah Kasih programme aims to help the elderly meet their basic needs while strengthening the relationship between the ministry and the community to ensure no one is left behind.

This initiative is part of KPWKM’s ongoing efforts to ease the burden of those in need, especially the elderly who require more structured attention and care.
