SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting said it is actively implementing the Resident Councillorship System (RCS).

He said through the system, the community will not only be able to engage with the council for the betterment of their respective area but also know the councillor in charge for the particular area.

“Through this system residents have the opportunity to directly collaborate and present their concern to the council and we did it last year. We will continue to do the same this year,” he said at SMC’s Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration here Saturday (Feb 17).

The CNY celebration at Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian who was accompanied by his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong.

Ting hoped that SMC members in their respective zone areas would continue to implement RCS this year by increasing activities and programmes with the community.
