MIRI: The Residents Committee (RC) here recently received two units of used patrol cars (Perodua Rusa) to help boost and increase their vigilance in the city.
The symbolic handing over of the vehicles was held on Wednesday night.
RC chairman Malateh Mahmud said the vehicles would be utilised for patrol and operations with their strategic partners.
“The RC patrol unit has been formed under the Miri City Council programme in 2016 and it has been operating ever since,” Malateh pointed out.
Currently, it has 70 members from all neighbourhoods within the city, he said.
“We have also set up chat groups on social media to share information about neighbourhood activities,” he added.
RC was named as one of the three winners of the 2017 Smart Community Award.
