DEBAK: Voters in Saribas made the right choice when they threw their weight behind Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Mohommad Razi Sitam in the December 2021 state election.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said Razi’s convincing win saw him being appointed as Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development.

“This appointment is a gift from the GPS government to the voters and it also means Saribas can look forward to more development programmes coming its way.

“I as Bukit Saban assemblyman nearby and Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, will help Razi to ensure development in Saribas,” said Uggah.

He was speaking at a Hari Raya and Pre-Gawai gathering held at the Riveria Futsal Court here yesterday.

Both Chuat and Razi and Political Secretary to Sarawak Premier Dr Richard Rapu were present at the function.

In the election, Razi won with a majority of 3,236 when he polled 5,138 votes, seeing off four other candidates.

His closest opponent Patrick Kamis from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) only obtained 1,902 votes while three others lost their deposits.

With the parliamentary election expected this year, Uggah hoped Saribas voters would again support the GSP candidate for the Betong parliamentary seat.

He said if GPS wins the parliamentary seat, it will greatly facilitate Saribas’ future development and prosperity.

Uggah also said the government was in the process of developing the Lubok Tamang Agropark here to educate and guide farmers on the concept and practice of more superior modern farming.

At the function, Uggah announced the government’s landas season financial aid of RM205,500 to local fishermen.
