SARIKEI: The Sarikei Division Social Welfare Department has brought cheer to some 100 people during the ‘Sejambak Kasih Hari Raya 2022’ Programme held here recently.

Handed over as Raya gifts to recipients were cash and hampers.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in a news report, the donation handover ceremony was declared open by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development and Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

This programme is an annual event by the department to help the recipients who have registered under the Divisional Welfare Office.

In his speech, Len Talif said he hoped that such donations could ease the burden of the recipients of the monthly welfare assistance in preparing for the coming Hari Raya celebration.

“At the same time Hari Raya celebration is also a meaningful time to all Muslims and non-Muslims as it was an opportunity for people of various races, ethnicities and cultures to share joy by visiting each other during the open house,” he said.
