KUCHING: Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib is disappointed with the actions of irresponsible parties spreading misinformation regarding the health status of  Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Raghad, in her official Instagram account, said the act of spreading fake news claiming that Taib had died was an inhumane act.

Her posting yesterday (Aug 2) reads: “To make fake news or curses on someone who has given his entire life for Anak Sarawak and this state is so inhumane.

“For making fake news to have fun or to defame reputation is wrong even in other religions. How do you feel if any of your family members are told dead while is still alive and kicking.

“Please respect someone else family, father, husband, grand dad. Remember that when you curse other people, the curse may go back at you too.”

Meanwhile, Abdul Taib’s private secretary Junih Salleh Ahmad in a statement today assured that Taib’s condition has been improving and that the latter will come home soon.

“It has come to our attention that members of the public have been continuously harping on the health conditions of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud despite the assurance from both the Astana and Sarawak Premier’s Office that he is currently recuperating overseas.

“We hope that the people will be patient and not be easily hoodwinked by unverified news and speculations on Tun’s current health,” said Junih.

Meanwhile, Astro Awani has denied any involvement in the spread of the black and white graphics with Abdul Taib’s name, which went viral on social media platforms and WhatsApp yesterday.

The news organisation said the graphics which included Astro Awani logo along with the caption ‘Al-Fatihah’ is untrue.

Astro AWANI also extended its apologies to the family members of the Head of State for this unfortunate incident.

The news organisation also advised the general public to be aware of fake news and avoid spreading it.
